Cameraland - InstaEats May '16 Food Photography Sessions in Review

Back to Blog |

Every Saturday morning in May saw our cafe buzzing with photographers keen to learn the basics of food photography and sample a few of the culinary delights the city has to offer. We teamed up with the talented team at InstaEats and joined forces to ensure that everyone’s weekend got started in the best way possible - with good food, great drink, a camera in hand and the very best of company!

A quick look back:

Week 1 - Starters with Little Saint

We spent the morning learning about the basics of food photography using the camera we always have with us - our smartphones! Little Saint provided a range different canapes for everyone - all beautifully presented and delectably delicious.

Week 2 - Mains with Loaves on Long & Olympus

After a quick coffee at the Cameraland Cafe, we walked over to Loaves on Long for a breakfast spread to remember. Their bright and airy rustic venue provided a welcoming backdrop for the morning while we focused on concepts such as depth of field and loaned out Olympus Mirrorless Cameras for all to try.

Week 3 - Dessert with Velvet Cake Co. & Nikon

Early morning Velvet Cake Co. cake and cupcakes was the order of the day as we met bright and early for the third food photography session. Nikon provided a few demo cameras for those considering an upgrade to DSLR.

Week 4 - Drinks with Hartenberg Wine, Uber Ice Tea & Devil’s Peak Brewing Co

After a quick lecture on lighting and drinks photography, we all walked over to Kamili coffee shop for a few action shots of the baristas. We returned to cameraland for a tasting session of Devil’s Peak Beers, Uber ice tea and Hartenberg Wine before taking the opportunity to practice drinks photography up on the Cameraland roof deck. A short certificate and prize ceremony wrapped up the course for the month.
