Cameraland's 59th Birthday Reunion | 3 Day Festival of Photography

As the oldest camera store in Cape Town, most families have at one time or another purchased a camera from Cameraland - our little camera store with big heart situated on the corner of Long Street and Shortmarket since 1958. As we turn 59, we would like to invite all our customers, old and new, to a birthday reunion where we come together to celebrate photography and the entrepreneurial spirit of Gerald Shap, the founder of Cameraland, who will visit the store once more at the age of 86. This three day festival of photography will give customers a chance to revisit the store, reignite their photographic passion, enjoy workshops, meet like-minded creatives and take full advantage of massive savings on all major brands of photographic gear.

While the business and the photographic industry as a whole has undergone many transformations since 1958, from analogue to digital to mobile and mirrorless, one thing remains constant – our focus on community and that desire to provide support and inspiration for our all customers long after they've bought that camera over the sales counter. Our customers enjoy a full range of services – a retail store, print lab, gallery, licensed café with free WiFi, photographic studio for hire, Leica boutique, a rooftop retreat in the middle of the bustling city and free parking!

Our 59th Birthday Reunion celebration will run over three days. Customers can expect exceptional pricing on photographic gear, coffee at 1958 prices and all the top photographic brands exhibiting their latest and greatest cameras and exotic lenses to test and try. We will also be running workshops, offering free portrait and family shoot sessions in our studio and giving aspiring photographers the chance to shoot models live in-studio.
