SIGMA SOLUTION FOR MIRRORLESS CAMERA USERS

The SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is the world’s first interchangeable lens for mirrorless Sony E-mount cameras in the APS-C format to offer a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent) and F1.4 brightness. The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a 32mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with the same f-number of 1.4. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens for which mirrorless camera users have been waiting.

Developed to feature a lightweight, compact package for everyday use, SIGMA DN lenses for mirrorless cameras deliver superior performance covering the key focal lengths. The new lens builds on the success of the 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, which SIGMA released in 2016 as the first in a new series of prime lenses for mirrorless cameras. The 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary also combines F1.4 brightness with top-level optical performance.

Sharing its development concept with the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, the 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features a lens structure with 16 elements in 13 groups and includes the finest materials. This lens effectively minimizes optical aberrations and offers a superb resolution at wide-open aperture and throughout the aperture range. The optical design and stepping motor deliver smooth autofocus during video shooting, while the mount features a special sealing for a dust- and splash-proof design.

SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary large-aperture standard lens gives owners of mirrorless cameras the opportunity to experience the fun of shooting wide open, with F1.4 brightness. Photographers will enjoy the beautiful bokeh effect that only a large-aperture lens can offer and the exceptionally sharp optical performance expected from a fine prime lens. Leveraging SIGMA’s latest technologies and design insights, this new lens fulfills the concept of the Contemporary line, in which varied elements come together in optimal balance.
A prime lens with a focal length of around 50mm and F1.4 brightness offers an angle of view very similar to human vision. The photographer can use the shallow depth of field at the wide-open aperture to take stunning portraits and tabletop still life shots. Or he or she can close the aperture for greater depth of field and shoot landscapes or snapshots. In this way, standard lenses allow photographers to enjoy so many of the fundamental methods of photography and have thus been favorites for decades. Photographers can experience F1.4 brightness and standard lens functionality with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 60mm on the Micro Four Thirds system and 45mm on the Sony E-mount system.

The first of the series is the standard lens 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, and the second is the wide-angle lens 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. The third addition is this smallest mid-tele lens in its class, 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary. While retaining the compact, lightweight, and outstanding image quality concepts of the Contemporary line, thanks to SIGMA’s leading-edge technology, this lens provides the amount of bokeh and admirable brightness expected from F1.4 lenses even in the mid-tele range. This addition completes the large aperture series comprised of portable wide-angle, standard, and telephoto lenses.
